UGG Fall Fashion Event

If you’re like me, UGGs bring to mind one very specific boot style. If you’re not like me, you still know what style I’m talking about: tan, chunky flats with that distinct sheepskin lining. Fall, however, brings a selection of UGG boots that surprised me with its variety. Chicago has the opportunity to view this new collection Thursday night, September 2, from 6-9pm at the UGG Australia store in the Gold Coast (909 N Rush Street).

The fashion event celebrates the latest UGG collection, inviting guests to shop for that unmistakable UGG comfort and style while enjoying passed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. The event will also raffle off a pair of one-of-a-kind UGG boots that features a sketch of the Chicago Skyline by a local artist.

Some of my personal favorites include the Rosabella ($200), Amberlee boot ($275) and Sheepskin Cuffed Boot ($200) shown above from left to right.

Long Lengths

If over-the-knee boots still conjure images of Julia Robert’s thigh-high patent boots in Pretty Woman, then it’s time to rethink this footwear trend. You don’t need Julia’s 44-inch legs to rock this look, and you can do it completely void of any “hooker boot” connotations as well. With the bevy of styles, colors, and fabrics, these sexy, effortlessly chic boots are perfectly wearable—as flats and heels—and stand out in any wardrobe.

Calvin Klein’s “Mayson” boots ($220; zappos.com): These have an elastic cuff that hits just below the knee, which keeps the soft suede from sliding down your legs.

Type Z’s “Archer” boots ($155; zappos.com): The epitome of sexy heels, these suede boots will elongate and slim your legs, making them appear as if they go on forever.

Progetto boots ($326; Lori’s Shoes): Urban meets rural in the form of these brown suede boots. The feminine over-the-knee silhouette is a striking contrast to this rustic riding boot.

Steve Madden’s “Xenonn” boots ($170; Steve Madden): Bound to draw attention, these purple suede boots are hip yet glamorous with the platform sole, slouched shape, and tied cuff.

Eric Michael’s “Vogue” boots ($250; Nordstrom): A girl needs options, and these boots supply it. The adjustable buckle allows for an OTK style, or it can be cuffed for a different look.

See, over-the-knee boots aren’t as over-the-top as previously perceived.

Finally! Jimmy Choo for H&M Hits Stores

Gray suede dress, $249; zebra flats, $70; blue suede dress, $249, and studded belt, $60; bracelet, $40; black stiletto, $129; leopard print bag, $129; pink clutch, $60; black long-sleeve mini dress, $129; thigh-high boots, $299

H&M has thrown their Jimmy Choo collaboration in our faces for far too long, and tomorrow we finally get to raid the merchandise! Chicago is one of the select cities blessed with the Choo, but the Michigan Avenue location is the only store selling it. Shoppers will be lined up in hopes of adding the famous label to their wardrobes at a fraction of the cost for the real thing. Get there early, though, because the first 160 shoppers will be given bracelets with allotted time slots to shop the accessories, shoes and bags. After two hours, the store will open to all shoppers, allowing everyone else their grab the remaining goods. If you are shopper number 161 and up, one consolation is that everyone can purchase only one of each product. In other words, they can buy the entire collection, but no more than one of any given item. We have our eye on the black long-sleeve mini dress and thigh-high leather boots! Good luck, everyone!
