Fashion Mash at the Flat Iron Arts Building (1579 N Milwaukee Avenue)
This Friday, stop by Fashion Mash from 6pm to 10pm for fashion-inspired art that will be for sale along with boutique items. A 10:30pm fashion show follows at Double Door, and the after party will be at Debonair Social Club.

Soiree Chicago at Moka Gallery (2112 W Belmont Avenue)
Thierry Roger and Ellie Thompson invite you to Soiree Chicago for an evening of elegance. Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served from on Friday from 6pm to 9pm, with a live fashion experience at 7pm. RSVP to ellie@ellieco.com.

Vince Boutique Grand Opening (106 E Oak Street)
This weekend, Vince, the LA-based casual luxury brand, opens its first store in Chicago. Rejoice!.

Trunk Shows at Krista K (3458 N Southport Avenue)
On Friday and Saturday, Krista K hosts two trunk shows featuring rising Chicago designers, Marisa Swystun and Allison Schiller.

Nicole Richie Shops Chicago

Last weekend Nicole Richie was at Michigan Avenue’s Nordstrom to promote the launch of her new line, Winter Kate. A large Chicago audience greeted the actress-turned-designer to shop the 40-piece boho chic collection rooted in classic fabrics and shapes. After the trunk show, Nicole stopped by the recently relocated Sofia Vintage (72 E Oak Street) and walked away with an impressive representation of what Chicago fashion has to offer. First, she snagged the “Sharone Ezra” cocktail ring with a stunning lemon quartz stone ($2,640) by local jewelry collection Dana Rebecca Designs. Other celebrity fans of Dana Rebecca Designs include Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, Nikki Reed, Oprah Winfrey, and Katy Perry. Also during her trip to Sofia Vintage, Nicole picked up a Hamsa necklace and Steven Shin evil eye bracelets.

A Love Affair

I’ve never been a Valentine’s Day kind of gal, but I do love V-Day-themed fashion (the non-tacky kind, of course). The key to finding that ideal accessory is to consider its versatility. Can you wear it after Valentine’s Day as well? Whether you’re dropping clues to your significant other or treating yourself to something special, here are a few adorable, love-perfect accessories for Valentine’s Day and beyond.

Cupid may or may not have found you true love, but this angel wings necklace by Heroine Chic ($85) is sure to attract his attention.

V-Day is a great excuse to splurge on new lingerie. I adore the dainty, glamorous styles by Elle Macpherson Intimates, including the “Dentelle Contour” bra ($65) and “Dentelle Culotte” briefs ($30).

Topshop’s over-the-knee heart socks ($16) bring me back to my childhood, when all my tights were embellished with hearts, stars or dots.

Love is in the air, and now it can be on your finger too. This “Love Ring” by CC Skye ($125) will be an eye-catching finishing touch to your Valentine’s Day ensemble.

It’s said that you should wear your heart on your sleeve, and with Jess L.C.’s heart bracelet ($68), you can.

Diamond earrings are a classic gift, but Dana Rebecca’s “Julianne Himiko” turquoise and diamond heart earrings ($880) are a refreshingly unique approach.

On the Red Carpet: Leighton Meester in Chicago Fashion

Leighton Meester, star of the hit CW show “Gossip Girl” and a now aspiring singer, kicked off 2010 at Chicago’s popular nightclub Underground. At about 1 A.M., Leighton took the stage to promote her new pop/R&B album, which has yet to announce a release date. Though we weren’t there for her performance, we did get wind of her Chicago-bought clothing and accessories. Leighton is known for her stand-out uptown-meets-downtown style, and this red carpet look perfectly nails such understated elegance.

Sofia Vintage (1165 N Clark Street) styled the starlet in a vintage long sleeve, backless Chantilly lace top ($75) and Armani high-waisted trousers from the early 90’s ($195). The look was accessorized with fine jewelry by Chicago-based Dana Rebecca Designs. Leighton donned the onyx and diamond “Julianne Himiko Hearts” earrings ($880) and the onyx and diamond “Lisa Michelle” ring ($1,540)—both of which were positively glamorous finishing touches.

Isn’t it wonderful seeing so much Chicago fashion on the red carpet?

Dana Rebecca Gets More Red Carpet Action

Last week, we showed you Nikki Reed wearing diamond bracelets by Chicago designer Dana Rebecca, and Monday night she sported the fine jewelry again at the LA premiere of New Moon. Nikki looked sweet yet hip in her canary blue Burberry dress, accented with Dana Rebecca earrings, ring and bracelets.

Her cast mates, Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene and Dakota Fanning, also vamped up the evening. Kristen glowed in Oscar de la Renta, Ashley was sexy and classy in Prabal Gurung, and Dakota kicked her little girl image to the curb in an edgy Valentino number.
