Eclectica Closes Its Doors

Sadly, Lincoln Park’s Eclectica boutique (1006 W Armitage Avenue) is closing its doors. Owner Vika Brown made the announcement just before the New Year and is holding quite the final sale for those looking to get heavy discounts on fantastic fashion. The store’s collection of contemporary clothing—including Vika’s own line—is currently 30% off warehouse prices. In addition, jewelry and handbags by the likes of local designers Tzen and Michelle Tan are 20%-50% off.

Though this location closes at the end of February, the store will open a studio in the Loop area to continue producing custom orders. Open by appointment only, the space will be available seven days a week, where clients can work exclusively with the designer.

New Boutique: Local Lookbook

Aviation is an unexpected platform from which to launch a career in fashion. Halli Mulei, however, did just that. Now the owner of Local Lookbook (1211 W Wester Avenue), a new boutique in Lincoln Park, Halli is a 14-year veteran pilot with a clear understanding of style. With this new endeavor, she offers a selection of clothing and accessories that puts Chicago designers at the forefront. With local labels such as Evil Kitty, Zamrie, Marisa Swystun, jlee silver, TZEN and Objets D’Envy, the boutique sells some of the most popular fashion brands owned and operated right here at home. Other labels include Crystal Wells, caro and Elizabeth Smith, which creates a well-rounded inventory in a charming, Parisian-inspired shop.

It’s a lovely thing when local fashion fosters local fashion.

Shop IN Chicago

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

Post Pic

Last night’s Shop IN Chicago was what many ladies consider the perfect evening: shopping, makeovers, manicures and cocktails, all in one fantastic location. Inside The Drake Hotel, women gathered to peruse 21 local designers and boutiques—including Ms. Catwalk, Chic Gems, TZEN, Claudia Kleiner Malabar Collection, and Eclectica—who set up shop and offered discounted prices specifically for the event. Amidst trying on clothing and accessories, juggling a glass of Pinot Grigio, and swiping credit cards, guests received a complimentary Dior product sampling and a complimentary manicure with Aniko Salon and Spa. Not bad for free admission.
